Redesign

Author: Jakc - Categories: Uncategorized

Hi pals! I’m redesigning the website. I think you’re going to like it. This one is pretty ugly. The other one isn’t superb, but it’s less ugly. I think. Anyway, check it at http://www.yourelisteningtowiretap.net. A lot of stuff is under construction, of course. But you’ll get the idea.

Bye!

Fruits of the Archives

Author: Jakc - Categories: Uncategorized

If you are like me, you’ve been getting all your Wiretap from Supernintendo Chalmer’s archive, which has nearly every episode. The official archive has some tasty treats from half a decade ago that don’t appear on the unofficial archive. Check out some vintage Josh in “Tell It Like It Is.” Also check out “Obsessions.”

Obsessions

How many decades can you spend every day thinking about someone you only went out with ten times? What happens when you can’t stop talking to your cat? And, a man who desperately wants to be obsessed — does he have what it takes? (Original broadcast: 24/07/2004)

Tell It Like It Is

When the truth is hard to take, Jonathan Goldstein tries to learn “Verbal Judo ” in self-defense. And, what do you do when you find out the awful truth about a friend’s therapist? (Original broadcast: 17/07/2004)

Thanks to Celia for finding these clips from the 2009 Spring Edition of the Ottawa International Writers Festival at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts and Humanities:

Wait, is that beer he’s drinking? And two empty glasses beside it? Gosh, Howe was right. Nevermind, I guess that’s his glass of water and the other one is the other guy’s glass of water. But still.

Prose and Cons

Author: Jakc - Categories: Uncategorized - Tags: , , , , , ,

Hey! Check out the new Wiretap trailer. With never before seen footage of Josh Karpati (looks exactly how I imagined him) and Buzz Goldstein (looks different from how I imagined him). Also see Sam Shalabi, Howard Chackowicz, John Tucker and ….. The Barber!

Oh, and by the way, I would’ve owned in the Wiretap quiz he gives. Missed opportunity.

The Poutine that Started the War

Hello. Summary of Splendours of the Small Screen up. You may remember Jordan Morris from How to Build a Bomb Shelter, where he helps Jonathan be a bit funnier on the show. Also, keep an ear out for a Prince parody sample from Indo G.

Hoodwinked?! Goldwinked…?

Author: Jakc - Categories: Uncategorized - Tags: ,

Thanks to Brian for pointing out that, according to Sheena Goodyear, JGold2000 is indeed, an imposter. Per her blog:

Then, one day I get the following message from the Twitterjacker:

JGold2000Hey there, would you like to assist me in my battle with Goldstein?

I  tell him I’m intrigued.

JGold2000Well I’m trying to provide a more authentic, satisfying and interactive JG Twitter experience than the real Goldstein.

JGold2000The real JG has a distinct advantage obviously but I think I can defeat him… with some help. He has been calling me an impostor lately.

JGold2000But you can help by: 1) providing me with any info on the real JG and 2) interacting with me as the real JG and the real JG as the impostor.

Whoever the imposter is, he clearly has done his homework. Apparently, he even Goldwinked Jorge Just. I don’t know.  I don’t understand. I don’t understand what is real and what is Twit-ction. Just when I got used to the fact that Wiretap episodes were largely “written”… But I suppose it makes sense. Much of the material JGold2000 draws on comes from National Post articles or previous Wiretap episodes.  Has anyone else been approached by the bereted imposter?

Hey Lifehacker, check this out: Use a banana as a winestopper

Author: Jakc - Categories: Uncategorized

Goldstein on the run in the latest National Post piece:

Friday. I pull out some wine from the refrigerator. Corking up the bottle is half a banana. I crammed it in there last night after losing the actual cork and now, as a result, I need to drink the whole bottle tonight lest the banana go black, turn to mush and become impossible to remove. I pull out the banana and set myself to the happy task.

[...]

I run at night because the streets are emptier and there’s less chance of running into someone I know. Plus, there’s something about running down the street in the middle of the night, dressed in what has normally been my sleep attire — sweat pants and a Canada’s Wonderland sweatshirt — that makes me feel like I’m running away from all my woes — escaping a burning house of troubles in the middle of the night.

Okay!

I eagerly await the appeareances of the (very) few episodes missing from Sir SupernintendoChalmers archive.
